The Great Thief

Chapter 704: Chatting With the Female Tycoon

Lu Li suddenly realized that it was a Dwarf who had given him this item and almost laughed out loud.

Dwarves were small and players often joked that they could only attack their knees. A Dwarf Thief could rarely attack the back of a tall target, so they had to find other weak areas.

In fact, the Thief didn’t actually have to specifically attack the back. As long as the attack was coming from behind, it would work. Asking a tall Night Elf like Lu Li to attack the back of the knee was a little difficult.

The second effect was much more normal.

Bloody Slaughter was a standard aggressive effect, but was a bit more straightforward and brutal. It used 20% of your own HP to take away 40% of your target’s HP. The conversion would be completed instantaneously and was unaffected by Attack and Defence stats.

The only downside was that this skill couldn’t kill a player. If your target was below 40% HP, you couldn’t instantly kill them as they would be left with at least 1% HP.

Even so, Lu Li was already content. Dawn wouldn’t allow more damage, as this would break the game’s balance.

It wasn’t clear what item Water Fairy had received, but based on her expression, it must have been good.

Lu Li discovered that Water Fairy laughed often but didn’t smile very much. Most players also didn’t dare to look directly at her face, which was why she had acquired this reputation of being a cold goddess.

When she laughed, her lips curled and her eyes closed slightly. The rays of sunshine landing on her face allowed Lu Li to clearly see the smile of the female tycoon appreciating her equipment.

"What are you looking at?" Water Fairy asked when she noticed Lu Li’s gaze.

"I’ve noticed that you’re pretty good looking," Lu Li answered honestly. Instead of looking away, he stared right at her, like he had nothing to lose.

"Pft, how would you know what looks good and what doesn’t?" Water Fairy mocked.

The man standing in front of her was the most insensitive person she knew. When he transformed into a normal person, or acted like a normal person, it was just to gain a girl’s favor...

But then again, if Lu Li was a normal person, he would be affected by her beauty. She probably wouldn’t be so close to him otherwise.

"My sister is very attractive," Lu Li said in a triumphant tone.

"Why don’t you talk about the three landladies that you live with?" Water Fairy asked, then stared at Lu Li for a moment and continued, "You poached them from our guild. Don’t you know that the law still prefers monogamous relationships? Which one are you going to pick?"

"Please, we’re just renting a house together..."

Lu Li was sweating. These were the landladies she was talking about; she didn’t need to be so vulgar.

"You’re the owner of a big guild now. Why are you still renting a house?" Water Fairy asked. The two of them stepped out of the town and quickly arrived at a place where level 45 Black Bears spawned. While they trained together, they kept on chatting.

"Because I had to pay for my sister’s treatment," Lu Li answered. He thought about it for a moment and if it weren’t for his sister’s illness, he would have solved the house issue. Lu Xin was someone who was particularly valued at home.

"What about now?" Water Fairy asked while observing Lu Li’s movements. She and Lu Li both often stole tricks from others by watching them.

If Lu Li was paying attention carefully, he would have noticed that Water Fairy had embarked on a completely different path from his previous life. She should have taken the path of winning by relying on good equipment and attack speed. However, she had now been influenced by Lu Li, and was slowly copying Lu Li’s style. She took priority in attaining a high degree of Skill Completion, with only a minor focus on attack speed.

However, even if she did decide the take the path of her previous life, she could probably still be an expert. With that being said, if she went up against another evenly-equipped player, the gap would be clearly shown.

"I still need to pay you back. If we do well in the league, then I’ll almost be there. I should be able to buy a house next year, but I’m actually living quite comfortably right now," Lu Li said then added, "Xin Xin really likes the current situation."

"You don’t have to rush to return my money. You can use it first; I’m not worried about your ability to repay me," Water Fairy said.

"I don’t like owing other people money," Lu Li refused as he shook his head, even though he knew that Water Fairy was sincere and she didn’t need the money either.

"It’s up to you. If there were three beautiful women living with me, I wouldn’t want to move either," Water Fairy joked.

Upon hearing this, Lu Li decided to change the topic.

"Does your guild have any thoughts on this league? It looks like the size of this competition will be a bit small."

Drizzle Court had a lackluster performance in the first competition because they hadn’t paid attention.

In fact, no guild expected the first competition to have such a strong influence. It almost overturned the entire gaming circle, set countless records and improved the industry as a whole.

The biggest beneficiaries of the first competition were Seventh Heaven and Blood Red War Flag, followed by Glory Capital, who were the favorites of this one.

"You should participate," Water Fairy suggested casually. She didn’t seem to care much about it.

"We plan to fully prepare ourselves. This is our first event as a guild, and plus, there might not be any major competitions after this one for a while."

Lu Li didn’t mention anything about the fact that the league had already gone international. The next league had already begun their global campaign. The national team had gathered major club experts from different countries all over the world.

"You won the Shadow Cup and stole the limelight of the Magic Cup. Now, you want to compete in the League."

Water Fairy didn’t really understand Lu Li. Even though Ruling Sword was in the building phase, they didn’t need to be so aggressive.

The Chinese game circles often lived a philosophy of being tastefully ordinary to ensure long term survival.

"If I said that the league would go international, would you believe me?" Lu Li couldn’t explicitly talk about it, so he vaguely referenced it. There were many games that went international, but because of the short life of virtual reality games, none had reached this milestone yet.

"You really think quite highly of Dawn."

Water Fairy shook her head disapprovingly, but she was actually uncertain about Lu Li’s words.

"Oh yeah, Xin Xin and I want to return to Jiangnan," Lu Li mentioned, not wanting to say much else. If Drizzle Court wasn’t too keen on participating in the League, then that would mean one less opponent for Ruling Sword.
